The Competitive Written Examination for Recruitment to the post of District Judges by Direct Recruitment will be held on Sunday the 30th August, 2015 at Bengaluru and the timings for two papers i.e., Civil Law shall be from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and Criminal Law shall be from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Competitive Examination For Direct Recruitment :
1. (a) The Competitive examination for Recruitment of District Judges shall consist of –
(i) written examination of two papers each of three hours duration with 150 maximum marks for each paper–One in Civil law and another in Criminal law.

Note:- It is compulsory for all the candidates to answer at least one of the papers in English language only and in so far as the other paper is concerned, it shall be optional for the candidates to answer the same either in English or in Kannada.

(ii) a viva-voce examination with 100 maximum marks.

(b) Subject to the restrictions specified in Clause (c), a candidate belonging to a scheduled caste or a scheduled tribe who obtains minimum of forty percent or more marks and a candidate not belonging to a scheduled caste or a scheduled tribe, who obtains a minimum marks of fifty percent or more marks shall be eligible for viva voce.

(c) From among the candidates who are eligible for viva-voce as per clause (b), as far as may be, such number of candidates as is equal to 5 times the number of vacancies notified, having regard to the number of vacancies in each reserved category, selected in the order of merit, shall be called for viva-voce examination.

(d) From among the candidates who have been called for viva-voce as per clause (c), candidates belonging to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe should have obtained minimum marks of Forty percent and a candidate not belonging to a Schedule Caste or Scheduled Tribe should have obtained a minimum marks of Forty Five percent in order to be eligible to be considered for selection to the post.

(e) Selection of candidates shall be made in the order of merit on the basis of the aggregate of the marks obtained in the written examination and viva-voce test, subject to the Government Orders relating to reservation of posts for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes.
